Clarivue Lighted Magnifying Mirror

I can see the chin hair I am after instead of pinching skin three times.Bernadette K..
Clarivue is a 10x mirror on a suction cup. It presses onto your bathroom mirror at whatever height you want, lights your face from the front instead of from the ceiling, and comes off again in a second. The head is 17.5 cm across, the light has three colours and a dimmer, and the ball joint behind it turns and tilts to any angle.
It will not fix your eyesight. It makes your face big and well lit, so you can see what you are doing without your glasses on.
- ✓The light comes from in front of you, not from the ceiling behind your head. That is the difference between seeing your lash line and seeing the shadow your own brow casts over it
- ✓10x, which is enough to work without glasses. Strong magnification is the whole point; a 3x mirror is the one that ends up in a drawer
- ✓It goes where your face already is. Press it onto the bathroom mirror at your own height, turn it to any angle, and move it when you want it somewhere else
- ✓Three light colours and a dimmer. White, natural and warm, so you can make up your face in roughly the light you are going out in
- ✓The batteries are not in the box. It takes three AAA cells, or runs off the USB cable into a plug. We would rather you read that here than find it on the kitchen table
What arrives
One mirror, head 17.5 cm across, 20 cm tall overall, on a suction cup 7 cm across. Polished chrome rim, a ring of LEDs inside it, 10x glass inside that, and a touch button on the glass near the top. White.
One USB cable, for running it off a plug or a power bank instead of batteries.
No batteries. It takes three AAA cells and they are not included, which is the supplier's packing, not an oversight of ours.
Where it will stick
Clean, smooth and non-porous. A bathroom mirror, a glass splashback, ceramic tile, marble, or the glass of a shower screen on the dry side.
Not these: textured or matt paint, wallpaper, bare plaster, wood, grouted tile if the cup lands across a grout line, or anything dusty or damp.
Once a month, lift it off, wipe the cup and the surface with a dry cloth and press it back on. That is the supplier's own instruction and it is what keeps it up there.
How to use it
Press it on at your own height, somewhere you can get close to. Most people put it on the bathroom mirror slightly to one side of where they normally stand.
Touch the button on the glass to turn the ring on, again to change colour, and hold it to dim.
Get close. About a hand's width away is where 10x comes into focus. Further back than that and it goes blurry, which is the magnification, not a fault.
About the magnification
10x is strong. You see one part of your face at a time, filling the glass: an eye, a brow, a lip line, a chin. That is what makes it useful for the fiddly jobs and useless for looking at your whole face.
It also shows you everything in that small area, which takes some people a day or two to get used to. It is a magnifying mirror doing its job, not your skin changing.
What it will not do
It does nothing to your eyes or your eyesight, and we make no claim about either. It is not a medical device and nobody here is a doctor. If your vision has changed, that is a conversation for an optometrist, not a mirror.
We publish no water rating, no LED hours and no lumens, because our supplier publishes none. Keep it out of the shower spray.

Sound familiar?
You take your glasses off
to do your eyes
And then you cannot see your eyes. So you do it by feel, lean in until your nose is almost on the glass, and find out how it went in the car, in daylight, on the way somewhere.
Clarivue puts a lit 10x mirror at your height, on the mirror you already have.
Where it goes
Onto the mirror
you already have
The suction cup is 7 cm across and it wants a clean, smooth, non-porous surface. A bathroom mirror is the obvious one, and it is also the right one: it puts Clarivue at your height, in the place you already stand, with no bracket and nothing drilled. Tile, marble and glass all work as well. Textured paint, wallpaper and plaster do not, and we would rather tell you that now than after it has fallen in the basin.
- Pick the spotSlightly to one side of where you normally stand, at the height your face is. Wipe it dry first
- Press and holdPush the cup flat against the glass and hold it for a couple of seconds. It should not slide when you nudge it
- Turn it to youThe ball joint behind the head goes a full circle and tilts, so you set the angle once and leave it
- Reseat it monthlyLift it off, wipe the cup and the glass, press it back. A few seconds, and it is the thing that keeps it up
What to expect
One part of your face,
big and lit from the front
10x fills the glass with an eye. That is the whole of it. You work at about a hand's width away, you see the lash line rather than a suggestion of it, and the ring lights it from the front so nothing is sitting in the shadow of your own brow. It is not a mirror for checking your whole face, and it does not pretend to be. It is for the four or five small jobs that your glasses get in the way of.
- Magnification10x, one area at a time
- Working distanceAbout a hand's width
- LightThree colours, dimmable
- If your vision has changedSee an optometrist. A mirror is not that
How to use it
Press it on, pick your light,
then get close
Under a minute the first time. The only thing people get wrong is standing too far back and deciding the mirror is blurry.

Dry the surface, press the cup flat against it and hold for a couple of seconds. Nudge it afterwards to check it does not slide.

Touch the button on the glass to turn the ring on, touch again for the next colour, hold it to change the brightness. White, natural, warm.

About a hand's width is where 10x comes into focus. Set the angle once with the ball joint and it stays set until you move it.
If it looks blurry, step in, not back. At 10x the focus sits close to the glass. That catches nearly everyone on the first morning.
An honest comparison
A stuck-on mirror, a stand,
and leaning in with your glasses off
Three ways of solving the same five minutes. What separates them is where the light comes from and whether the mirror is at your height or the bench's.

What we will not claim: nothing medical, nothing about eye health, and no doctors. It is a lit magnifying mirror on a suction cup. The last two rows of that table are as true for us as for everyone else, and the second to last is the reason you keep your ordinary mirror.
Questions
The things people ask
before they order
Where it sticks, whether 10x is too much, what powers it, and the one thing it does not do.
Where will it actually stick?
Clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces. A bathroom mirror, a glass splashback, ceramic tile, marble, or a glass shower screen on the dry side. It will not hold on textured or matt paint, wallpaper, bare plaster or wood, and it will not hold across a grout line if the cup cannot sit flat. Wipe the spot dry before you press it on. If your bathroom wall is painted and your mirror is small, the mirror itself is the place to put it.
Is 10x too strong?
It is strong, and that is deliberate. At 10x an eye fills the glass and you work about a hand's width away. If you stand back at normal mirror distance it will look blurry, which is the magnification and not a fault. It is the right tool for eyeliner, brows, a stray hair, a splinter or putting drops in, and the wrong tool for looking at your whole face, which is what your ordinary mirror is still for. Most of what is sold is 3x or 5x, which is why so many magnifying mirrors end up in a drawer.
Does it come with batteries?
No. It takes three AAA cells and they are not in the box. You can also run it from the USB cable that is included, into a plug or a power bank, which is what people with a socket near the mirror tend to do. We put this in the buy box rather than the small print because finding out on the kitchen table is annoying.
Is it rechargeable?
We do not claim that it is. Our supplier describes two ways to power it, three AAA cells or the USB cable into a power supply, and says nothing about it holding a charge. So we say the same. Treat the cable as mains power rather than as a battery, and if that matters to you, put it where there is a socket.
Will it fall off?
A suction cup loses its grip slowly as air works in behind it, which is why the supplier's instruction is to reseat it about once a month. Lift it off, wipe the cup and the surface with a dry cloth, press it back on. It takes a few seconds. The things that make one fail early are a dusty or damp surface, a cup pressed onto texture it cannot seal against, and never reseating it. If you can, mount it slightly to one side of the basin rather than directly above it.
Can I use it in the shower?
No, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. We publish no water rating because our supplier publishes none, so we cannot tell you what it will survive. It is a bathroom mirror accessory, which means steam in the room is fine and spray on the unit is not.
What do the three light colours do?
White, natural and warm. The practical use is matching the light you are actually going out in: warm for an evening indoors, natural for daylight, white when you want to see detail rather than flatter it. Touch the button to cycle them and hold it to change the brightness. Doing your make-up in one light and walking out into another is the usual reason a face looks different outside the house.
Why would I want two?
The second one usually goes in the other bathroom, or to a daughter, a sister or a mother. Because the pair costs the same as the single, there is no sense in buying one if there is anybody you would pass the second to. If one is all you need, buy the one.

What buyers say
about Clarivue
order the batteries at the same time
The listing says three AAA are not included and it means it. I had none in the house, so it sat on the counter for two days looking lovely and doing nothing. Put a pack in the trolley when you order. Once it had power I have had no complaints at all.

chin hairs I used to find by touch
I am 63 and I had been tweezing by feel for years. With this at 10x and the natural light setting I can see the one I am after instead of pinching skin three times first.

too strong for checking your whole face
Worth knowing: you will not see your whole face in it and should not try. It is one eye, or the chin, at a hand's width. For that it is exactly right.

second one went to my sister
Took the pair option because the second was free and she had been complaining about the same thing. Hers is on the inside of a bedroom window, mine is on the bathroom mirror.

warm light is the one I keep
White is honest and a bit clinical. Natural is fine. Warm is what matches my bathroom bulbs so my makeup does not look different once I walk out of the room.

reseating it takes ten seconds
Mine started to creep down after about five weeks. Lifted it, wiped the cup and the glass, pressed it back. Solid again. Now I just do it when I clean the mirror.

you see everything, be ready
Nobody warned me that a 10x mirror shows you everything in the patch you are looking at, including pores and stray hairs you were not looking for. It took me about a week to stop inspecting and start using it for the job I bought it for. If that will bother you, it will.

liner on a lid with no crease
That was the whole reason I ordered Clarivue. Glasses on the shelf, mirror at eye height, one eye at a time. It takes me a minute longer than it did at forty and it is straight.

I run mine off the cable
I keep the USB cable plugged into a little adapter by the outlet rather than bothering with cells. It does not store any charge so the cable stays connected while I use it.

splinter out in two minutes
Not what I bought it for, but my husband got a splinter in his thumb and Clarivue plus the bright white setting got it out faster than the two of us squinting at the window.

Our promise
Try Clarivue
for 30 days
Your face, big and lit from the front.
It presses onto the bathroom mirror at your own height, magnifies 10x, and lights what you are working on instead of leaving it in the shadow of your own brow. Three light colours, a dimmer, and a joint that turns to any angle. It takes three AAA cells, which are not included, or runs off the USB cable. It will not fix your eyesight. The second mirror is free, shipping is free, and you have 30 days to change your mind.
Clarivue is a lighted magnifying mirror. It is not a medical device and it does nothing to your eyes or your eyesight. We make no claim about eye health, and nobody involved in selling it is a doctor. If your vision has changed, please speak to an optometrist rather than buying a mirror.
Three AAA batteries are required and are not included; the USB cable supplied runs it from a power supply instead. We publish no water rating, no LED hours and no lumens, because our supplier publishes none, so keep the unit out of the shower spray. The suction cup holds on clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces only, and the supplier's instruction is to lift it off, wipe the cup and the surface and press it back on about once a month. Mount it to one side of the basin rather than directly above it where you can. At 10x the focus sits close to the glass, so it is a mirror for one small area at a time rather than for your whole face.
