Nestora Acupressure Mat Set

It stings for two minutes and then you stop noticing it.Carol M..
Nestora is a mat and a neck bolster in plum purple cotton, both carrying small white discs with blunt points on them. You lie back on it for ten or twenty minutes. The first minute stings and most people settle after two or three.
It is not a treatment and it will not fix back pain. It is a firm, prickly surface that many people find relaxing to lie on for ten or twenty minutes. If you have a skin condition, take blood thinners, or are pregnant, ask your doctor before using it.
- ✓Two pieces, not one. A mat for the back and shoulders and a half-round bolster for the neck. Most sellers at this price charge for the bolster separately
- ✓About 230 discs on the mat, each a blunt-pointed lotus shape in ABS plastic, with a matching run along the bolster. Blunt points, not needles
- ✓A high-density foam core that holds its shape instead of going flat, which is what separates a mat you keep using from one that ends up in a cupboard
- ✓Covers come off and wash. They unfasten along a hook-and-loop seam and go in the machine, which matters for something you lie on in a t-shirt
- ✓Rolls up and goes under a bed. It is a mat, not a machine. Nothing to plug in, nothing to charge and nothing to replace
What arrives
The mat: about 68 by 42 cm, a high-density foam core inside a 100% cotton cover, carrying roughly 230 white ABS discs.
The bolster: a half-round neck pillow about 37 cm long in the same cotton, with a matching run of discs along the curve.
Colour: plum purple, which is the only colour we sell.
We have not counted the discs one by one, which is why the page says about 230 rather than an exact number.
How to use it
Put it on a firm surface, a bed or the floor, and lie back onto it slowly rather than dropping onto it.
Keep a t-shirt on for the first few goes and work up to bare skin if you want to.
Five to ten minutes to start with, up to twenty once it is comfortable. The bolster goes under the neck, gently.
Get off it slowly too, rolling to one side rather than sitting straight up off the points.
What it feels like
The first minute stings, and there is no way round that. Most people settle after two or three and then stop noticing it. A t-shirt takes a good deal of the edge off, which is why we suggest starting that way.
Afterwards your back will be pink or red in patches where the discs were. That fades within the hour and is what everyone sees the first time.
What it will not do
It is not a treatment and it will not fix back pain. Nobody has shown that an acupressure mat treats any condition, and we are not going to imply otherwise to sell one.
What we can describe is the thing itself: a firm, prickly surface that a lot of people find relaxing to lie on for ten or twenty minutes, often before bed. Whether that is the mat or simply lying still for twenty minutes, we could not tell you.

Sound familiar?
You carry the day
across your shoulders
It is not an injury and it is not worth bothering anyone about. It is the tightness that is there most evenings, that you notice when you finally sit down, and that lying in bed does not seem to touch.
Nestora is a mat you lie on for ten or twenty minutes. That is the whole of it.
What it actually is
A firm surface
with a lot of blunt points
We are not going to tell you what it does inside your body, because nobody has shown that an acupressure mat treats anything. What we can describe is the object. The discs spread your weight across a great many small contact points instead of a flat surface, and that is an unusual sensation that most people find sharp for a minute or two and then pleasant.
- Blunt points, not needlesEach disc is a moulded lotus shape in hard plastic with about twenty-five blunt tips. Nothing is sharp enough to break skin
- A dense field of themRoughly 230 discs across the mat, so your weight is spread over thousands of small points rather than a few
- Firm foam underneathDense enough that the points stay upright under your weight instead of sinking into a soft pad
- A bolster for the neckThe half-round shape sits under the neck so the curve is supported rather than flattened
What to expect
Twenty minutes,
and a pink back afterwards
The first minute stings. Most people settle after two or three and then stop noticing it. Afterwards you will be pink or red in patches where the discs were, which fades within the hour and is completely normal. Whether you feel looser because of the mat or because you spent twenty minutes lying still is a question we cannot answer, and we would rather say so than invent a mechanism.
- First few goesFive to ten minutes, t-shirt on
- Once it is comfortableUp to twenty minutes
- AfterwardsPink patches that fade within the hour
- On back painNothing proven. We will not pretend otherwise
How to use it
Lie down slowly,
breathe, get up slowly
Ten minutes before bed is how most people use it. The only thing people get wrong is going straight onto bare skin on day one.

The floor or a firm bed. Lay the mat flat with the bolster at the top for your neck. Keep a t-shirt on for the first few goes, which takes a good deal of the edge off.

Sit down first, then lie back a section at a time rather than dropping onto it. Settle your shoulders, then your head onto the bolster. Breathe out and let your weight go into it.

Start short and build up to twenty. Roll onto your side to get off rather than sitting straight up. Then roll it away under the bed.
Slowly on, slowly off. Dropping onto it or pushing straight up off it is what makes people decide it is not for them.
An honest comparison
A mat, a massage,
and a vibrating gadget
Three things people try for the same tight shoulders. What separates them is mostly cost, whether you keep doing it, and what is actually being claimed.

Questions
The things people ask
before they order
Whether it hurts, how long to lie on it, what the marks are, and who should not use one.
Does it hurt?
The first minute stings, and anyone who tells you otherwise has not used one. It is sharp rather than painful, like a great many small blunt points at once, which is exactly what it is. Most people settle after two or three minutes and then stop noticing. Keeping a t-shirt on for the first few goes takes a good deal of the edge off, and you can work up to bare skin later if you want to.
How long should I lie on it?
Five to ten minutes to begin with, and up to twenty once it is comfortable. There is no benefit we can point to in going longer, and the main reason people stop using one is doing forty minutes on day one, hating it, and never going back. Most people end up using it for ten or fifteen minutes in the evening.
Why is my back red afterwards?
Because you have been lying on several thousand blunt points and the skin reddens where they pressed. It fades within the hour and is completely normal. If it is still marked hours later, if the skin is broken anywhere, or if it is sore rather than simply pink, that is a reason to stop and not a reason to push on.
Will it help my back pain?
We do not know, and we are not going to say it will. Nobody has shown that an acupressure mat treats any condition. What a lot of people report is that lying on one for fifteen minutes is relaxing and that they feel looser afterwards, which may be the mat or may be lying still. If you have back pain that is persistent, getting worse, or came on suddenly, see a doctor about it rather than buying a mat for it.
Can I use it on my neck?
That is what the bolster is for, and gently. It is a half-round shape that sits under the neck so the curve is supported, rather than a flat pad that pushes your head forward. Start with a few minutes. If you get any dizziness, pins and needles down an arm, or pain rather than the usual sharpness, stop and leave it alone.
Should anyone avoid it?
Yes. Keep it off broken skin, sunburn, moles and varicose veins. If you take blood thinners, have a skin condition, are pregnant, have reduced feeling in the skin from diabetes or any other cause, or have a heart condition or a pacemaker, ask your doctor before you use one. If your doctor has told you to avoid pressure on the skin, listen to them and not to us.
Can I wash it?
Yes. The covers unfasten along a hook-and-loop seam and come off both the mat and the bolster, and they go in the machine on a cool wash. Take the foam cores out first; they do not go in the water. Line dry rather than tumble. That matters more than people expect for something you lie on in a t-shirt several evenings a week.
Why would I want two?
Because the people in a house tend to want it at the same time, and because one tends to live wherever it was last used. Plenty of buyers put one in the bedroom and one in the living room, or give the second to whoever has been borrowing theirs. If one is all you need, buy the one.

What buyers say
about Nestora
i expected it to hurt more
Sharp for about two minutes, then it flattens out into a warm, blunt pressure. I do ten minutes after the evening news. The marks on my back fade before I go upstairs.
bought the pair for my sister
Two sets for the price of one was the deciding factor. Hers lives in her camper. Mine stays rolled under the bed and comes out most nights. Both identical, both fine.
the foam held up
I am heavier than average and expected the middle to flatten out. Six weeks in it still feels the same under my shoulders as it did on day one. That was my main doubt.
not for bare skin yet
Four weeks of Nestora and I still keep a thin shirt on. Bare skin is too much for me and I am not sure I will ever get there. Over a shirt it is genuinely pleasant.
storage was the selling point
Small apartment, no spare room. It rolls with the bolster tucked in the middle and stands upright in the hall cupboard. Takes up less space than my vacuum.
my husband uses it more than i do
Bought it for myself after years of desk work. He tried it once out of curiosity and now I have to ask for it back. We are getting the second set out of the garage.
the color is nicer than i thought
Photos made it look brighter. In person the purple is deep and muted and it reads as bedding rather than gym kit, which matters when it lives by the bed.
i am honestly not sure what it does
I am honestly not sure what it does and I doubt anyone knows. What I can tell you is that I lie on it for fifteen minutes after work, it stings for the first two, and I get up looser than when I lay down. Whether that is the mat or just lying still, I could not say.
one disc arrived loose
One disc came loose in the second week and I found it on the carpet. Messaged them and they sent a whole new mat without much fuss, so no real complaint. The rest of the discs have been solid since and the bolster has not lost a single one. Worth mentioning so you know it can happen.
washed it after three weeks
Cover off in a minute, cool wash, air dried overnight, back on with no shrinkage I could see. Getting the foam core back in took a bit of wrestling but that is the only gripe.
Our promise
Try Nestora
for 30 days
Ten minutes on the floor.
A mat and a neck bolster in cotton, with about 230 blunt-pointed discs between them. It stings for a minute, most people settle after two or three, and the pink marks fade within the hour. It is not a treatment and it will not fix back pain, which is the part the others leave out. The second set is free, shipping is free, and you have 30 days to change your mind.
Nestora is an acupressure mat. It is not a medical device, it is not a treatment, and it will not fix back pain. Nobody has shown that an acupressure mat treats any condition, and nothing on this page should be read as saying otherwise. Results vary from person to person.
Lie down onto it and get up off it slowly. Keep it off broken skin, sunburn, moles and varicose veins. If you take blood thinners, have a skin condition, are pregnant, have reduced feeling in the skin, or have a heart condition or a pacemaker, ask your doctor before using it. Stop if you get pain rather than the usual sharpness, if marks do not fade within a few hours, or if the skin breaks. Not for children. If your doctor has told you to avoid pressure on the skin, listen to them and not to us.
