The massage ends when he stops, not when my neck does. Marissa P.

Reposa is a bed-mounted face cradle that slides under your own mattress, so the person lying down can keep their head straight and face down. The shoulder rub ends when the hands are tired rather than when the neck is.

□Two pieces
↕15 to 43 cm
✕No tools
  • ✓The head stays straight and face down, so a ten minute rub does not end with a sore neck
  • ✓The steel base slides flat between the mattress and the frame, and the weight of the mattress holds it there. Nothing is drilled, clamped or screwed
  • ✓Two pieces and only two: the under-mattress base and the sage green quilted memory foam cushion that attaches on top
  • ✓Height adjusts 15 to 43 cm (5.91 to 16.93 in), the platform tilts, and it fits mattresses 5 to 45 cm (2 to 18 in) thick
  • ✓The open front keeps your nose and mouth in free air, so you can breathe normally and talk
What is in the box

The base: a black powder-coated steel frame that lies flat between your mattress and the slats, box spring or platform, with an upright arm and a small platform on top. Footprint about 42 cm x 27 cm (16.54 in x 10.63 in).

The cushion: a sage green quilted memory foam face cradle, horseshoe shaped and open at the front, which attaches to the platform with hook-and-loop fastening and lifts off again in a second.

Adjustment: the upright sets anywhere from 15 to 43 cm (5.91 to 16.93 in) above the platform and the cradle tilts forward and back.

Mattress range: 5 to 45 cm (2 to 18 in) thick. No power, no batteries, no motor, no tools.

In the box: one Reposa base and one cushion. If it is not one of those two pieces, we do not ship it.

How to set it up

Slide the base in: lift the mattress at the edge where the head will go. Lay the base flat on the slats, box spring or platform with the upright arm pointing out past the mattress edge, then let the mattress down on top. Push the bed back against the wall before anyone uses it.

Set the height and tilt: loosen the upright, set the cradle level with the mattress surface or just above it, and tighten. Attach the cushion to the platform.

Lie down and check your nose is clear: your forehead and cheekbones should carry the weight, with the open front leaving your nose and mouth in free air.

Which beds it does not fit

A bed with a solid one-piece base, a divan with built-in storage drawers, or a lift-up ottoman frame. On those there is no gap between the mattress and the structure, so the base has nowhere to sit and no mattress weight pinning it.

We would rather lose the sale than have it arrive at a bed it cannot mount to. If you are not sure, lift a corner of your mattress and look.

Care and cleaning

The quilted cover unzips and comes off the memory foam. Wash it on a gentle cycle and air dry it rather than putting it through a hot dryer. The foam insert should not go in the machine: spot clean it and let it dry fully.

Shipping and 30-day money back

Shipping is free on every order and orders are dispatched in 1 to 3 business days, with a tracking link emailed when yours ships.

If it does not fit your bed or you simply do not get on with it, message us within 30 days of delivery and we refund you. No restocking charge.

Read the bed types above before you order. A solid one-piece base, a storage drawer divan or an ottoman frame has nowhere for the base to slide.

Why the rub ends early

The massage does not stop
because the hands got tired

One of you lies down, turns your head sideways onto a pillow and waits. Somewhere around the ten minute mark the neck on the turned side starts to complain, and the whole thing winds up for a reason that has nothing to do with the shoulders you came for.

⌛Ten minutes, then the neckThe neck taps out before the shoulders are even warm, every single time.
●A head turned ninety degreesYou are holding a rotation you cannot hold for long, and you both know the clock is running.
✕Reaching acrossThe person kneeling over you is leaning at an angle to get the far shoulder, so their back goes next.
☁Face into the pillowTurn fully face down on a pillow instead and you cannot get a proper breath.
□The folded towelIt presses into your face, or it slides apart under the weight of your head halfway through.
▢A table you have nowhere forA folding table is a second piece of furniture, and it needs floor space you probably do not have.

Reposa fixes the position, not the hands.

Person lying face down with their head turned sideways on a pillow, reaching back to rub their neck

The frustration

A head turned ninety degrees
is a timer

And both of you are on it. The person lying down is holding a rotation they cannot hold for long. The person kneeling over them is reaching across at an angle to get at the far shoulder, which is why their own back goes next.

  1. The head stays straightFace down into the cradle, the neck sits in line with the spine instead of twisted to one side
  2. The front is open on purposeThe horseshoe is cut away at the front so your nose and mouth are in open air. You can breathe normally and you can talk
  3. The person working gets squareWith the head off the edge of the mattress and raised to a set height, the shoulders are reachable from straight on rather than across
  4. Nothing to holdNo rotation to maintain and nothing to undo halfway through the session
Head level in the cradle at the edge of the bed, shoulders relaxed, seen from above and behind

The goal

Head straight, face clear,
and you decide when it ends

Reposa raises the head off the mattress in an open cradle so the neck stays straight and the airway stays clear, and the whole thing is held down by the weight of the mattress already on your bed. Nobody is twisted and nobody is leaning across.

  • Height range15 to 43 cm
  • Fits mattresses5 to 45 cm thick
  • Base footprintAbout 42 x 27 cm
  • A good session10 to 15 minutes

How to set it up

Three minutes once,
then it is part of the bed

Reposa goes in one time and stays in. You lift the mattress, lay the base on the slats, let the mattress down on top and set the height to suit whoever is lying on it.

Sliding the flat steel base onto the slats under a lifted mattress
1Slide the base in

Lift the mattress at the edge where the head will go. Lay the base flat with the upright arm pointing out past the mattress edge, then let the mattress down on top.

The upright set to height with the cushion attached on top
2Set the height and tilt

Loosen the upright, set the cradle level with the mattress surface or just above it, tighten, and attach the cushion to the platform.

Lying face down with the forehead and cheekbones resting on the cushion
3Check your nose is clear

Forehead and cheekbones carry the weight and the open front leaves your nose and mouth in free air. If the cheekbones are not taking it, the height is a notch out.

Set it with someone lying on the bed, not with the bed empty. Thirty seconds of adjusting beats ten minutes of putting up with it.

An honest comparison

Reposa vs a folded towel
and a folding table

Nobody shops for this first. You shop for it after the rolled towel collapsed under someone's face, and after you looked up what a folding table costs and where it would live. Both of those are the real competition.

ReposaA towel or a table
Open front keeps your nose and mouth in free air✓✕
Height sets from 15 to 43 cm and the cradle tilts✓Whatever it folds to
Held by your own mattress, no drilling or clamping✓A table to open out
Uses the bed you already sleep in✓✕
Cushion cover unzips and goes in the wash✓A towel washes
Folds flat and slides under the bed✓Bulky to shift

What we will not claim: this is a position, not a treatment. It holds your head level and your face clear while you lie down. Everything good that happens after that is the other person's hands and your own ten minutes.

and nothing you did not ask for

Questions

Fit, grip, and whether
your face goes numb

The questions people send before they order, including the bed types where the answer is no.

Will it fit my bed?

It fits beds where the mattress sits on something the base can slide onto: wooden or metal slats, a box spring, or a flat platform frame. The base lies between the mattress and that surface. Your mattress needs to be between 5 and 45 cm (2 to 18 in) thick. The base footprint is about 42 cm x 27 cm (16.54 in x 10.63 in), so it needs that much flat area at the head or side of the bed.

Which beds does it not work with?

A bed with a solid one-piece base, a divan with built-in storage drawers, or a lift-up ottoman frame. On those there is no gap between the mattress and the structure, so the base has nowhere to sit and no mattress weight pinning it. We would rather lose the sale than have it arrive at a bed it cannot mount to. If you are not sure, lift a corner of your mattress and look.

Will it slide or tip when I put my head on it?

The base sits under the mattress, so whatever your mattress weighs is pressing it down across its whole footprint. That is the mechanism, and it is the same one that stops a book sliding out from under a stack of books. We do not publish a weight rating because the supplier does not state one, so we will not pretend to know a number. Push the bed against a wall before use so the bed itself cannot creep.

Can I actually breathe face down on it?

That is what the horseshoe shape is for. The cradle is cut away at the front, so when your forehead and cheekbones are resting on the padding your nose and mouth sit over open air. You can breathe normally and you can speak, which matters when you are telling the other person to go easier. It is the opposite of being face down in a pillow.

Does my face go numb after a while?

Numbness usually means the weight has slipped onto soft tissue rather than bone. Set the height and tilt so your forehead and cheekbones carry the load, with no pressure under your eyes or on your chin. Users report that once the height is right they stop noticing the cushion. If you feel pins and needles, get up, reset the height a notch and try again.

Can one person use it alone?

Yes. Plenty of people buy it as a pair and then use it solo: lying face down to read a tablet or a book propped below, or to nap for twenty minutes without turning the head sideways. Setup needs the mattress lifted once, which is easier with two people but manageable alone with a knee under the mattress edge. After that it stays in place.

How big is it, and can I put it away?

The base is about 42 cm x 27 cm (16.54 in x 10.63 in) and the upright adjusts from 15 to 43 cm (5.91 to 16.93 in). It folds flat and slides under the bed or into a closet when you want it gone. We are not going to call it travel gear or portable: it is powder-coated steel and it has real heft in the hand, which is part of why it stays where you put it.

How do I clean the cushion?

The quilted cover unzips and comes off the memory foam. Wash it on a gentle cycle and air dry it rather than putting it through a hot dryer. The foam insert itself should not go in the machine: spot clean it and let it dry fully. The supplier does not state a wash temperature, so we say gentle and cool rather than invent a number.

What exactly arrives in the box?

Two pieces: the black steel under-mattress base with its upright and platform, and the sage green quilted memory foam cushion that attaches on top. That is the whole set. There is no extra shelf, no chest or body pillow, no oil and no digital guides, because we do not ship those and we are not going to picture them. Shipping is free and orders go out in 1 to 3 business days.

the slat question answered itself

Plain pine slats under a medium mattress. The base went in flat with room to spare and the mattress weight does exactly what they say it does. No wobble when I lean on it.

Bought as a gift, honestly it gets used most when I am lying face down reading on a tablet on the floor beside the bed. Breathing is normal. That surprised me most.

took two tries to get the height

First go I set it too high and my chin took the load, which was unpleasant after a few minutes. Dropped it about two inches so my forehead carried the weight instead and the difference was immediate. Worth fiddling with on the first night rather than deciding it is not for you.

Our spare room bed has storage drawers underneath and a solid platform, so there was nowhere for the base to go. It lives on the main bed now. The page did warn me.

breathing was the whole doubt

I had tried face down on a pillow before and gave up because I could not get any air. The cutout at the front of this cushion is big enough that I can hold a conversation through it, which was the whole thing I was worried about, so that doubt is gone.
